It helped going into negotiations knowing the dealer price. I had calculated exactly what my bottom line was, in 3 scenarios. One at the preferred 3% over dealer cost, another at 4% and finally my top range of 5%. I also calculated what I wanted on my trade so I knew what price I was willing to pay and keep within this range. I also figured out my payments and knew the maximum I was willing to pay monthly. I found out that it made the whole process faster as I was able to counter their offer quickly. We negotiated the whole deal in under 20 minutes.
