Buying a 2010 Honda CR-V, and saving $1500 off of MSRP.
We had a Honda CRV which gave us 8 years of above average satisfaction and service.
We were skeptical of our local dealer.
West City Honda was recommended to us by other customers. We found them friendly, respectful and down to earth during the negotiation process.
Accepted 3% of cost offer without query or protest. Accepted the markup/proposed profit margin from CarCostCanada as accurate information.
Fair trade in value for our previous vehicle.
They come highly recommended.

Buying a 2009 Honda CR-V, and saving $2000 off of MSRP.
I compared many vehicles in this class. I believe it is extremely important when making a purchase like this, to take the time to research and compare as many as possible. Originally, I did not include the Honda CR-V on my list because I thought the price was too high and the rates were normally not very good in comparison to others. However, by July Honda had very good rates. Car Cost Canada's information allowed me to have a view of actual costs, so I was aware of how much negotiating room there was with all of the sales people that I eventually dealt with. When I told the Honda dealership I had the Car Cost Canada pricing, they were willing to honor it. At the end of all the comparisons, Honda's reputation and this particular dealer's reputation had a large effect on my decision, as well.

Honda has a great reputation. I have previously owned a Civic and never had a problem with it. I chose the CRV because I wanted a small SUV. Once I knew which vehicle I wanted, I visited a few Honda dealerships. When they know you are serious about buying a specific vehicle, they seem to be more willing to make a deal.

Let the salesman know that you have the carcost canada report. This avoids a lot of negotiation. I was able to pay 4% above dealer cost and get $350 in options with very little negotiation

I chose a local dealer as I am a "buy local" person. I told sales consultant that I was a car cost member. He came back to me with 5% above cost plus incentives. I also recieved 600 dollars of extras at no charge. The sale went quickly , I maybe could have done better but do not like to haggle.
