CarCostCanada's October 2019 Top 10 Vehicles Sold Report

Sales of new vehicles in Canada during October 2019 continued the trend of declining car sales and modestly increasing light truck sales. Sales of cars dipped 12% compared to October 2018. Sales of light trucks increased 4%. The Ford F-150 continued to be the best selling vehicle in the country. General Motors sales slid 7% and the combined sales of Nissan and Mitsubishi fell 9%. The best selling passenger car title will certainly remain with the Honda Civic for 2019, but sales of the Civic are down almost seven thousand units compared to the first ten months of 2018. Fiat Chrysler has enjoyed a run of several consecutive months of increasing sales volume for its Ram pickup line. Two Japanese small sport utility vehicles enjoyed robust sales this month; the Honda CR-V recorded a very sizable increase of 28%, while the Toyota RAV4 reported a 13% increase in its deliveries. Up to the end of October the RAV4 had outsold the CR-V by 6647 units and it was the 3rd best selling vehicle in Canada. We are confident that manufactures will be pulling out all of the stops as they attempt to push sales up before the end of the 2019 calendar year.
