Buying a 2012 Honda Odyssey, and saving $2000 off of MSRP.
This is the 3rd car I've purchased using Car Cost. And the same process has worked for me each time. Use the wholesale price to come up with the price I want to pay giving the dealer a reasonable profit. Find out what all the additional charges are Taxes etc and what the residual is if leasing.
take all that info and calculate your on the road price, after all accessories, warranty, rust proofings and taxes. Then detail that out on a piece of paper (include everything down to colour and trim), and go dealer to dealer explain your calculations to the sales rep and hand them that paper with your credit card (this means if they give you that price, go ahead and take the deposit).
The key is to not be afraid to walk out of the dealership if they don't give you your price. With my latest purchase I had to go to 3 dealerships.
