It gave me a starting point in pricing the vehicle. I had a 2009 trade that complicated the issue. It doesn't matter what they discount the new vehicle, they just allow less for the trade. In the end it is price out the door that matters.

I used the wholesale report to learn that the $2000 discount they offered us was just the cash factory to dealer incentive. The dealership itself refused to give a discount of their own. They did beef up the trade a little though.

The Foresters are essentially "non-negotiable" - the Wholesale Price Report, unfortunately, was useful for saving money, but it gave me an idea of what I should be spending tops. Otto's has a take it or leave it attitude, at Bay Subaru, I left with marginal savings off of the MSRP, but they also made me feel as though I got the best deal possible under the circumstances. No small feat. A trip to Belleville was definitely worthwhile.
