Buying a 2011 BMW 3 Series, and saving $5000 off of MSRP.
I chose the BMW 3281 xDrive because it is probably the best sports sedan on the market and it was recommended by Consumer Reports. The price was also a consideration, so I bought the car during a slow sales period (3rd week of December 2011) and at a time that incentives were bein offered. I also chose a time a few months before the new 2012 model was scheduled to be released. Finally, I used the wholesale price from the CarCostCanada Report less the manuafctor''s insentive and added a 6% markup plus tire, air and a small administration fee to arrive at the price that I was comfortable with. In addition, I also negotiated a dealer specific discount before I agreed to a final price that I considered to be fair.
