Buying a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid, and saving $1500 off of MSRP.
Using the wholesale price report worked wonderfully in negotiating there best price. All one had to do was to present the report telling them that you had already done your homework and that you expected nothing less than their bottom line.
Buying a 2008 Honda Accord Sdn, and saving $1500 off of MSRP.
We started our search for a new Honda at Discovery Honda in Duncan. We dealt with a salesman there, Guy, who was not overly helpful. I had the Car Cost wholesale information and we could not come to an agreement about the cost of the new car. We travelled to Campus Honda in Victoria and were intoduced to a very helpful salesman named Greg RACICOT. Again I had all of the Car Cost wholesale information. He was impressed that we had done so much research and knew exactly the model and options that we wanted. Once again, I offered wholesale cost plus 3% to begin with. He came back with a counter offer that amounted to approx wholesale plus 3.6% and the whole deal was completed within half an hour. The business office was great to deal with. We declined any extended warranty offers and they were fine with that. No high pressure attempt to sell the extended warranty when we said no thanks. Everyone at the dealership there was pleasant and I would recommend this dealership to anyone in the Victoria area. I would buy my next Honda here without question.

Buying a 2008 Honda Accord Sdn, and saving $6000 off of MSRP.
I have bought my previous 2 vehicles through an auto broker at a better price than offered by the dealers (until after the deal was done, I was told both times by the dealers that they would have matched the broker price). I told the Honda sales rep that I wish only their best price and I will compare it to the price that has been given to me by my broker. I was offered "the price this dealer provides autos to brokers". The price Honda dealer offered was $400 better than what my broker gave me (which includes his fee). Honda also had a $4000.00 purchase cash program and the GST was set at 5% in recognition of drop to occur January 1st. The vehicle was a demonstrator with only 1,000 km.
I used the Wholesale Price Report to check offered prices vs. wholesale and determine a fair price, ie. 2-3% above wholesale.
Leasing a 2008 Honda Fit, and saving $500 off of MSRP.
First, I paid the MSRP on the FIT, although I showed my CarCost report. I must say they were not impressed, because such accessories like carpet(s), rear mud guard etc. are not included in the report. Anyway Honda City is now Campus Honda. The only Honda dealer in Victoria, BC. The Duncan Honda dealer, 50 km. North, told me the same thing (same price), the demand is so that they can keep them in their showrooms. It took me three days to seal the deal as nobody blinked. I leased on December 31, 2007, in an effort that if I take it off their inventory for 2008, I might get a break, as most dealers have a quota that ends the last day of the year and they get a kick back from Honda. This was a fact explained to me by the dealer. Still, NO DEAL.
