Buying a 2023 Ford F-150, and saving $8250 off of MSRP.
I had contacted five other dealerships with questions about the possibility of purchasing a new F-150. I was so frustrated at that point in talking with salespeople. Then I contacted Brad Schneider, Sales Manager, at Jacobson Ford in Salmon Arm, BC. I have never had any dealings with Jacobson Ford before as I do not live in Salmon Arm. I have used the strategies that CarCostCanada suggests to purchase our last five vehicles only during COVID did dealers generally stop negotiating with customers and we were forced to accept the MSRP on a vehicle. With that possibility in mind, I offered Brad 2% over his Invoice Price on a new truck(this was done over the phone within the first 3-4 minutes of talking to him). Brad said he thought that was fair and would accept that. No negotiation! I was prepared to go up to 3%. I was amazed at how simple and easy that was. After that, we just had to decide on a vehicle. He asked what features we were looking for and we arranged to meet the next day at his dealership and he said he would have to do some searching as he could bring in a vehicle for us from pretty much anywhere. The next day he had 5-6 window stick sheets for vehicles that he had found that he laid out and asked what we thought. We went through the features and in the end he showed us a truck in his showroom that had been sold but the people changed their mind and opted to get a Lightning truck instead, leaving this one available. It was a beautiful truck but outside our price range. To make us consider it (absolutely no pressure whatsoever), he said he wouldn't charge us the $995 Transportation fee to bring this truck in from another dealership for those people. Also, he said there would be no charge for the sprayed-in box liner and mudflaps that had been added to the truck. He also reduced the Documentation Fee. In the end, from the MSRP and these extra items that the other people would have paid for, I figure we saved just over $8000. And this is still paying him the 2% over the invoice price of the truck. This had to be the smoothest, most pleasurable deal we have ever completed on the truck. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to purchase a new Ford vehicle, no matter where you live (especially if you live in BC), to contact this Ford dealership. Interestingly enough, they are the only dealership that is connected with CarCostCanada so when you run a report for a Ford vehicle and you live anywhere in the Okanagan, this dealership and Brad's name and contact phone number come up. We love our new truck and love the fact that we saved so much money. Thanks to CarCostCanada for helping make this type of experience happen.
