Buying a 2012 Kia Rio, and saving $1000 off of MSRP.
Knowing dealer invoice price kept expectations realistic which made for easier negotiation. I never told the salesperson that I had dealer invoice pricing. Salesperson gave me $1300 off list, but then charged $395 for pre-delivery expense on top of $1450 frieght for net saving of $900+.
Chose 2012 Kia Rio 5 door EX w/UVO with a 10 year comprehensive warranty ($2,000) as seemed best bang for the buck. Would have liked EX Luxury, but late availability.
Buying a 2009 Kia Rondo, and saving $500 off of MSRP.
the vehicle chosen had the features we were looking for. this was the only dealer in town. dealer would not allow any negotiations with the wholesale price report on price of the vehicle.

The Kia dealership never heard of carcost but was willing to work with me. They were very good at negotiating and respectful of me, but once the sale was done the delivery has been less than pleasant with no return calls for free bug guard as promissed, many scratches, and poor clean up for delivery. Paperwork messed up several times so you had to be a mathematician to keep all the changes straight. Bought 8 year warrenttee 200000km for 2495$. The info provided from carcost did not help all that much but they did drop the 498 admin fee for the window vin etching, then put another smaller fee when paperwork was changed. They promissed a 0 deductable for warrentee but when looking at the paperwork they ahve an x next to 100$ deduct ( i wont pay it as i checked the 0 deductable in the box. All in all the deal is done and I got a DVD player in it as it was the only car they could find with my colour choice (they did not acknowledge so I am not even sure they know they gave it to me. I give them a 8/10 for making the deal and 3/10 for delivery and this is generous. Time will tell if they stand behind the product. As far as carcost i found it minimally useful. The mark up was so minor it was difficult to deal and the exlanation of the factory to dealer cash incentive swas misexplained. I found out after all said and done the dealer bought the car for cash and had me sign a factory to dealer $2400 additional benifit for the dealer. You need to work on explanation of terms. So keep to the written word, get it all in writting, double check all, and make them follow through with promisses. I would still recomend this dealership at this point..marginally
