Buying a 2010 Dodge Caliber, and saving $5000 off of MSRP.
The vehicle was chosen to replace a low KM ford focus SEL w/ luxury options; higher clearance, retention of fuel economy and luxury features (leather, heated seats etc.) were considerations for rural driving. The choice added features and provided a value not available with new 2011 focus. That price was increased so even with employee pricing, trade value are reduced and the spread was larger than desirable. The report confirmed buying a new, yet one year old model allowed more negotiation room since factory incentive yet applied.

Richard was able to beat the best price I could get from any of the Calgary area dealers. The Wholesale Price Report allowed me to easily negotiate the pricing/value of upgrades and gave me a level playing field as I knew the exact costs (including things like hold backs) that the dealer had to pay.
