Buying a 2011 Toyota Prius, and saving $1000 off of MSRP.
I was able to negotiate price via email.
I did use the wholesale price report in the negotiation. Dealer sale rep also showed me the dealer wholesale price for the prius which is the same amount that I got from the wholesale price report.
I chose this dealer because it's near where I work, I can test drive during lunch hour and the dealer provides pickup service and drive back for the test drive, and be able to negotiate via email is a plus. Mainly, I did not feel pressure into buying car on the spot from the sale rep at this dealer.
I chose the Prius over Camry hybrid and Sonata Hybrid because of the gas saving, because Quebec offers tax incentive of $1500 for the 2011 prius, because it's a green car, because it has a good reliability record for a hybrid car, because prius has been around for awhile, and because the Prius drives nicely compared to Camry hybrid or to Sonata hybrid; with the Camry, I felt a light forward rolling motion on the highway - so for me it's a no no; with the Sonata hybrid, I don't like the acceleration plus this is the 1st Hybrid from Hyundai and new technology so there are still too many unknown in terms of reliability, problem, ...
