CarCostCanada's March 2019 Top 10 Vehicles Sold Report

Industry sales numbers as a whole were somewhat positive as we maneuvered further into the year. While March 2019 sales were significantly higher than those reported in the previous month, there was still an overall decline. Passenger car sales continued to drop in both the domestic and imported segments, and overall had a decline of 6% in comparison to last March. On the bright side, light truck sales grew slightly, imported light trucks accounted for all of the lift. Ford Motor Company had an excellent month. It not only continued it’s trend of being the top selling manufacturer, but it also two vehicles on the top 10 selling vehicles list. F Series was number 1 and the Escape was number 10. Ford also picked up market share against its competitors; last March it was just under 14%, at the end of this March their share was just over 15%. Honda also saw a healthy increase in overall sales, reporting an 11 percent increase and their top seller, the CR-V rose by 24 percent. The other top sellers on the list were the Ram Pickup, Honda Civic, RAV4, Silverado, Rogue, Sierra, and Corolla. As one North American manufacturer did well this month, two others did not fare as well. Fiat Chrysler Automotive saw a significant 12 percent drop in their sales. General Motors suffered another month of sales declines. While March over February sales increased, the year over year numbers were somewhat bleak. GMC Sierra sales plummeted 34 percent.
