Q7: I'm interested in leasing a new vehicle;
can your service help me?
A7: Yes! Whether you are purchasing, financing or leasing, your CarCostCanada Price Report will
empower you to get the lowest and best price. Lease payments are based on the selling price and your
CarCostCanada Price Report will empower you to get the lowest selling price.
The lower the price is, the lower your lease payments will be.
Q9: I want to research more about new vehicles than just price. Can you help?
A9: Yes, in addition to our proprietary CarCostCanada Price Reports, CarCostCanada offers a large,
easily searchable database of article content at //carcostcanada.com/blog/ including info about dealerships,
new vehicle reviews, car dealers, buying advice and the new vehicle marketplace.
Q1: Can I use any web browser software to access your service?

A2: We are so sorry you are having trouble. We take your concerns very seriously.
If you are having trouble with any feature on our website report a bug ,
or contact us by phone 1.866.453.6995 or through “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message”

Q3: Why do I need to accept Cookies in order to access your system?
Q1: Do your CarCostCanada Price Reports consider the rebates
and incentives offered by manufacturers from time to time?
A1: Yes, CarCostCanada Price Reports include and itemize all current applicable
factory incentive programs including special finance and lease rates, factory to consumer rebates,
factory to dealer rebates and more.
Rebates that are specifically offered to fleet purchasers are available, but not included in our Price Reports.
Q2: I have my CarCostCanada Price Report. How do I know what price I should pay for my new car?
A2: We believe our members should Never Overpay. Your CarCostCanada Price Report includes a section called “Price Guidance.”
We believe our members should pay a reasonable mark-up. Price Guidance categorizes a reasonable mark-up range by vehicle type.
Visit your CarCostCanada Recommended Dealer for details about your selected vehicle category
and to determine mark-up percentage. If you have additional questions about Price Guidance,
click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at the bottom of this page or call 1.866.453.6995.
Q3: Are there holdbacks and other types of hidden rebates available to the dealer?
A3: Holdbacks are factory funds paid to dealers after a vehicle is sold.
Holdbacks are provided to refund dealers for inventory carrying costs, interest expenses,
advertising, and other vehicle storage related costs. Hidden (factory to dealer) incentives and rebates are
also provided to dealers from time to time. Your CarCostCanada Price Report provides information about all
incentives, holdbacks and rebates when available.
Q4: Are the holdbacks, rebates or incentives in my area the same as in other parts of the country?
A4: From time to time some manufacturers have regional incentive programs that differ from the national programs.
The CarCostCanada Price Report provides information on all available incentives and rebates for all parts of the country.
Q5: Are there any regional differences for dealer’s cost and full retail pricing?
A5: No. Dealer cost and full retail price (MSRP) are the same, per model and brand, everywhere in Canada.
Freight charges are also the same all across the country.
However, the price you are required to pay by your local dealer can vary widely,
depending on a long list of factors, including taxes, government or agency fees, insurance,
title requirements and other local levies, regional dealer group requirements,
legislated safety rules requiring purchase of specific accessories, and common sense additions of certain features.
Also price is affected by other items explained in our Price Guidance.
In order to understand the dealer cost, fees, hidden incentives, rebates and to obtain guidance about what you should pay,
Q7: What are “Trading Dollars,” “Lease Dollars,” or “Finance Dollars”?
A7: Trading dollars, lease dollars or finance dollars are all properly known as “incentives.”
All available incentives are provided on the CarCostCanada Price Report and we explain incentive availability
based on how you plan to pay for the vehicle (cash, lease or finance). When calculating your selling price,
the correct incentives (for cash, lease, or finance) should be deducted from the “Total Invoice Price”
displayed on your CarCostCanada Price Report.
Q9: The “Price Guidance” on my CarCostCanada Price Report shows a lot of percentages. I want to pay the lowest price possible. How does “Price Guidance” help me?
A9: We believe our members should Never Overpay, but dealers do require a profit (also called a “mark-up”)
in order to sell cars. Our Price Guidance creates a starting point for your discussion with the dealer
about how much profit is fair for your selected vehicle. Work with your dealer to confirm the category
your vehicle falls under. For example, a rare luxury car requires a much higher mark-up percentage than a popular,
high volume economy car. There are many factors that decide mark-up, including supply, location, time of year,
vehicle life cycle (“new model coming soon,” or “this new model just arrived in our showroom”), etc.
The mark-up ranges supplied in Price Guidance ensure you do not overpay, but also ensures you understand the dealer
deserves a fair price for the type of vehicle they are selling. If you have additional questions about Price Guidance,
click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at the bottom of this page or call 1.866.453.6995.
Q10: The dealer said the price, incentive (or other details) on my CarCostCanada Price Report are incorrect or out of date, but I ran the report today. What is going on?
A10: It may be that an incentive or price has recently changed and we haven’t received the data yet,
or we haven’t uploaded the revision. If this is the case,
please contact us and we will provide you the latest data as soon as it is available.
On the report, look for incentive expiry dates. Sometimes incentives display on Reports for a few days after expiry,
while we are updating our system. Also in your member Account we save your report history.
When a price, incentive, rebate or other program changes, your reports will be automatically
updated and you will see “you have an updated report.” Finally sometimes salespeople try to create confusion,
or to create doubt about the authenticity of the report so that you will pay a higher price than necessary.
Be careful. If you have any questions about your report, call us 1.866.453.6995 or click “Let’s Chat” or
“Leave us a message” at the bottom of this page.
Q11: My CarCostCanada Price Report includes a worksheet that says “Add CarCostCanada Member Mark-Up.” What is my “Member Mark-Up”?
A11: A “mark-up” is the dealer’s profit. The Price Guidance section of your
Report shows a reasonable percentage mark-up range for every type of vehicle.
The Member Mark-Up is the guidance percentage expressed in dollars.
For example, a 2.3% mark-up on a $30,000 cost is $690.00 profit to the dealer.
To help you calculate your total cost, use the worksheet, insert the mark-up you have worked out with your
recommended dealer, then add any other costs, deduct incentives available to you and find out your total cost.
Q12: Can you help me understand a good value for my trade in?
A12: Yes & No. CarCostCanada does not provide trade in evaluations. However we can help in two ways.
First, we have the data on virtually every new vehicle sold in Canada, ranging back many years.
If you have reports remaining in your account, contact us for a “historic report” on your current vehicle.
The report provides all the facts about your vehicle when it was new, including original price,
original dealer cost and all the standard features and factory options.
Although this doesn’t give you the current trade in value, it is evidence of what the original cost was,
and this is particularly valuable for recent year trade-ins (up to 3-4 years old),
since the dealer often starts his calculation of the value of these models by going backwards from today’s cost for the
similar new model. Second, if you contact us, we can help by providing trade in value and margins guidance specific to your area,
your current trade-in and your proposed new vehicle and how the two categories often are blurred or overlap.
Q1: There is no dealer mentioned on my CarCostCanada Price Report. How do I request a dealer quote?
A1: We can help. We offer our members a variety of services to help get the best deal possible.
One FREE service is the BuyNow price quote. If your Price Report displays text “Your BUYNOW Price”
with a red “My Price” button, you can receive a price quote simply by clicking the button and answering a few questions.
There are other cases where we may not mention a dealer on the Price Report. In those cases,
to obtain a price quote or to take advantage of your many membership benefits, click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message”
at the bottom of this page or call at 1.866.453.6995.
A2: We encourage you to work with the CarCostCanada Recommended Dealer identified on your CarCostCanada Price Report.
They are familiar with CarCostCanada and generally provide the best value, savings and service to our members.
If for some reason you have concerns about the recommended dealer referral,
or for other information about dealer referrals, click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at
the bottom of this page or call 1.866.453.6995 for additional guidance.
Q3: Do you send my contact information to a dealer?
A3: Yes. CarCostCanada refers our members to recommended dealers in proximity to the members location.
Our members enjoy unique leverage at the recommended dealership because they possess the CarCostCanada
Price Report and the dealers are ready and willing to work out a great deal for our members.
Our recommended dealers are trained and knowledgeable about the CarCostCanada Price Report and are
best equipped to ensure members enjoy a stress-free new vehicle buying or leasing experience.
Q4: What if I don’t want you to refer me to a dealer?
A4: We feel that sending you to a quality recommended dealership has a tremendous number of benefits for you.

including talking to dealers about price, supply, etc. Please click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at

A5: CarCostCanada recommended dealers are monitored for fairness, accuracy and quality.
You can also review what other members say about them here.

click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at the bottom of this page or call 1.866.453.6995.

Q1: Does CarCostCanada provide data on used vehicles?
A1: No. Every used vehicle is unique and to some degree all are uniquely priced.
Distance travelled, region, condition and history all play a role in used vehicle pricing.
However, when you see the price, available interest rates and the incentives available on new vehicles using our information,
you may find it makes more sense to buy new! Try our new vehicle CarCostCanada Price Report here.
Q2: Will I be able to see data on the
standard features of the vehicle I selected?
A2: Yes, all CarCostCanada Price Reports include a list of all the standard features.
There is a link at the top of the report in red (under the picture of the car) called “Standard Feature Summary.”
They are also included in the body of the report, usually starting on page 3.
Q3: I want to add factory options to my Report, what do I do?
A3: You may add or change options for your selected vehicle without paying for extra reports.
Access your report in the Member Account. Look for the link to “Add/Edit Options”
in the section called “Vehicle Pricing & Options Details.” Clicking this link takes you to a page
to build the vehicle again, where you can select new or different options.
Each vehicle “build” (Price Report) will be available separately in your member Account.
Q4: Help, I can’t find the options, or the options I want don’t appear on your list. What do I do?
A4: There are several possible explanations; a) Your report may not have included the choice to “add factory options.”
If that was the case you can run another report now on the same style of vehicle as many times as you want (for free)
with different options selected. b) “Options” might be getting confused with “Dealer Accessories.”
Dealer accessories are not available through our online service (see Q36 below). c)
Sometimes the vehicle already includes your options as standard equipment.
Review the standard equipment details included with your report to verify.
d) Some options are only included with “packages,” all packages are listed on the options selections page,
in their own section. e) Adding an option sometimes causes another option to be removed.
Carefully review the messages that appear on the options page when you make changes.
f) If you still can’t find what you are looking for, please click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message”
at the bottom of this page or call 1.866.453.6995 for additional assistance.
Q5: Are there models or options available that are not listed in your system?
A5: We provide data on over 96% of all vehicles sold in Canada.
Click here for our free Build & Price tool to see what we have.
If your preferred model is not available, we can also let you know when we have that data.
Click here if you don't see the model you are looking for and would like to be notified when we have the information.
Q6: Does your system provide information on dealer installed options and accessories?
A6: No, we only list “factory” installed options. Dealer installed "add-ons,"
including parts and accessories ("dealer accessories") are supplied to the dealer's
new car department from a variety of sources including their manufacturer and
many independent vendors. Price variations based on the source, quantities and
other factors make quoting accurate costs for dealer installed add-ons across brands and regions virtually impossible.
However, we find for manufacturer supplied parts, a dealer mark-up of
20% is average (some markups may be lower, some higher). Extended warranties,
insurance contracts, rustproofing, window tinting, custom wheels and other
similar "options" may have higher mark ups. Tires often have very small mark ups,
often less than 10%. For members who want additional advice about options, parts and accessories,
please click “Let’s Chat” or “Leave us a message” at the bottom of this page or
call 1.866.453.6995 for assistance.
