Buying a 2010 Mazda MAZDA3, and saving $7000 off of MSRP.
I had generated several wholesale price reports and found them helpful when talking to various dealerships. In negotiating for my first-choice car, the price the dealer was willing to sell for matched the CCC report quite closely - and the price I needed (which was less than CCC) was declined. That gave me the confidence to know that I was getting a great deal on the car I eventually bought as it was well under the CCC price (end of model year clearout event).

Don't settle on one car if you can avoid it. Having options makes negotiating much easier. Also, if you're buying from a dealership, then don't be afraid to look around at different dealerships for the same brand. I visited 3 different Mazda dealerships and found that I was dealt with very differently and quoted very different prices in each place.
