Buying a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, and saving $2000 off of MSRP.
Have dealers compete for your purchase, Ensure all dealers have same information (everybody working from same apple basket, not mixing apples and oranges). Take time to think through quotes received, especially if 1 is presented in a different way than you requested. Ask if they will put their proposal in writing. I had 1 dealer make what sounded like a great offer at first, when I asked for it on paper, he refused. Another dealer just said he would beat any offer I could present on paper. Dealer I bought from had a sales representative who was the first to respond, 1st to show a willingness to negotiate and only one willing to send me a paper copy of his proposal knowing I may ask another dealer to beat it. For these reasons he earned my trust and business. I believe offered he gave me a good deal. All my negotations were done from home via computer and phone. Prior to contacting any dealership, I knew what vehicle and assessories I wanted.
