We shopped around and compare numerous other vehicles, we test drove 8. Having the Wholesale as a starting point for the negotiations, made the whole process much less stressful and improved our bargaining with the dealership.

Location was important with choosing this dealer. We used the price report knowledge to negotiate with confidence, even though the dealer denied that there was 2500 profit margin.

This dealership is quite happy to take a deal at 3% over invoice. They DO include the freight and A/C charge in their calculation but I can live with that because the ONLY extra fees they have are a window etching fee (which I declined and which they didn't push me on) and the block heater that they automatically install (which I need anyway). A lot of this is courtesy of Hyundai's way of doing things I think but the dealer was also easy to deal with in comparison to the nightmare I had trying to buy a Mitsubishi. All in all a pretty darn decent buying experience. I phoned at 10am and drove a new vehicle home at 6pm the same day.

Use the Car Cost Canada Report cost price as your opening bid and negotiate from there. $300-500 dealer profit seems to be a reasonable range of savings. If you get stuck at a certain price, shop around. Dealers can sweeten the pot with accessories or oil changes. The whole process of negotiation was under a half hour using the report as a critical tool. No buyer's remorse or regret. We are really enjoying the car and its excellent value. Winnipeg Hyundai was very pleasant to work with and was able to go a little further than the other guys.
