With 3,882 deliveries to its credit in January, Toyota’s RAV4 remains the top-selling crossover SUV, its year-over-year growth at 6.9 percent, while the fifth-place GMC Sierra found almost as many buyers as the RAV4 last month, at 3,837 units, which is an impressive increase of 37.5 percent since January of 2019.
The Honda CR-V’s year-over-year sales growth was nearly as impressive thanks to 3,793 deliveries for a 31.8 percent increase, whereas Chevrolet’s Silverado found 13.1 percent more YoY buyers for a total of 3,628 new customers. Of note, the two General Motors trucks, which are essentially the same behind their grilles, combined for 7,465 units total in January, which would have collectively placed them ahead of Ram’s Pickup and therefore second overall, if total sales were tallied by automaker instead of brand.
Rounding out the top-10 were the Dodge Grand Caravan, Toyota Corolla, and once again the Nissan Rogue in the final position, with 2,731, 2,590 and 2,098 sales apiece, with the classic Canadian family hauler gaining the highest number of new buyers year-over-year at 40.2 percent, compared to the smaller family-oriented compact SUV that gained a solid 15.8-percent. Interestingly, the popular Japanese compact sedan and hatch was the sole top-10 best-seller to actually lose ground year-over-year, with sales dropping 5.2 percent.
