CarCostCanada's September 2018 Top 10 Vehicles Sold Report

The new vehicles sales trend in Canada turned slightly negative during September 2018 as most manufacturers reported declines in sales when compared to the sale period during 2017. It is important to note that 2017 was a record year for new vehicle sales, so some decline in sales might be expected. Most vehicles in the list of top sellers posted declines. Most significant amongst those that saw a drop in sales were the Ford Escape, Chevrolet Silverado and the Ford F Series. The only vehicles to improve their year over year sales were the Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra. Of the top selling manufacturers, Mercedes Benz and Ford Motor Company suffered the largest year over year decline. While Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to be well behind the rate of sales it enjoyed during 2017, the month to month decline is leveling out. Its sales during September were only eighty units below their August 2018 tally.
