CarCostCanada's March 2018 Top 10 Vehicles Sold Report

Light vehicle sales during March 2018 continued the trend of sliding passenger car sales. Light truck sales did increase over March 2017, which resulted in year to date sales being just under two percent higher. The Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla were the only passenger cars to crack the list of Canada's top ten selling vehicles. Seven of the top twelve car makers saw their sales decline compared to same period a year ago. Fiat Chrysler saw their overall sales decline just over nine percent. VW Group and Toyota posted the largest increases in sales compared to March 2017, with VW posting an increase of over twenty two percent. General Motors and Fiat Chrysler each had four models in Canada's top twenty selling light vehicles. Even more noteworthy is the fact that GM has managed to overtake both Fiat Chrysler and Ford in the race to sell the most vehicles for the full year. It will be interesting to see how these results affect the size of each makers incentives programs as we move toward the later part of the month of April.
